What will SCA 50 Year be like?
Event co-steward Duchess Elina of Beckenham says, "it'll be like nothing
else."
"We are anticipating 3,000 to 3,500 people based on pregreg numbers,
hundreds of classes, fighting and fighting games for all combat forms all
day long. There's a full schedule of youth activities, over 150 horse and
equestrian activities, including jousting."
"We have the Artisans Square where both daily and week-long projects will
be going on: textile dyeing, iron smelting and smithing, and daily sessions
where folks can try various arts and sciences. We're featuring the Great
Machine from Calontir too."
"The marketplace is packed with more than 80 merchants. And then all the
one-of-a-kind only at 50 Year activities:
a full size replica of the Sutton Hoo dig (complete with artifacts). SIX of
the founders will be there. SIX."
"An outstanding Performing Arts schedule brings special performances from
Clan Tinker, Heather Dale, Whisky Bards, and partners with an all-night
Tavern. Plus there are performances all day every day on the Village stage."
"And there's a great deal more including an opening ceremony narrated by
Diana Paxton, our founder."
"It's definitely a once in a lifetime event."

The SCA is something all of us have built, and our stories create its
history. Come share your piece of that history with “Our SCA Stories"
during SCA 50 Year.
Choose your day and time in the schedule (link below) for a storytelling
opportunity.
All stories matter: have you been in the Society a year? Tell us about your
first year! Have you been in “mumblety-mumph” years? Speak up! We want to
hear your tale too!
The “Our SCA Stories” venue is open daily during the SCA 50 Year
Anniversary Celebration. Tentative time slots can begin Sunday, June 19 -
Friday, June 24, 9 am - 5 pm through Saturday, June 25, 9 am - 3pm.
“Our SCA Stories” will be performed in Hendricks Exposition Hall, which is
a large (air-conditioned!) hall. All of the history hall displays are in
there, and we have a space set aside for speakers/panels/performers with
seating for up to 50. When you come to tell your story, you’ll have an
appreciative audience!
Keep stories 3 minutes to 10 minutes in length: there will be timers set,
and coordinators to help you tell your best tales!
You can sign up to share your 3 to 10 minute stories with us at:

Vaucresson)

Tuesday, June 21 - Great Wars and Interkingdom Events
Wednesday, June 22 - Royalty & Regalia
Thursday, June 23 - Non-Kingdom Groups
Friday, June 24 - The Peerages (Baroness Maggie MacKeith)
Speak off the cuff, or use notecards, an outline or…read to us. Tell us
your SCA Story!
