[Ansteorra] Steppes Warlord

Greetings Ansteorra!

Now that we have all hopefully recovered from Gulf Wars, it is time to look
forward to one of the Kingdom’s greatest Baronial Championship events –
namely Steppes Warlord. This year we are offering some extra-special
activities, so read on for more details.

Chivalric Combat
- Warlord Tournament: This year’s tournament will resurrect a practice that
was done in years past where there are multiple “tiers” that a fighter can
participate in; based on the Chivalric awards they have earned. Everyone
will start out in the main “Warlord” tier. If a fighter is eliminated, they
will then have the opportunity to participate in the “Centurion” level of
the tournament if they are below the heavy fighting rank of Knight/Master
of Arms (peer). If they are eliminated from this level, they will then have
the opportunity to participate in the “Talon” level of the tournament if
they are below the fighting rank of Centurion (grant level).
- Sunday Spear tournament: Come participate in a limited field 9-foot spear
tournament being hosted by The Chateau de Gournay. Each bout is to a total
of three points-scored either by killing the opponent or forcing him to
step on or outside the field.

Rapier Combat:
- Rapier Championship: The Rapier tournament will be held on Sunday in the
same format as Warlord with the three ‘tiers’ based on the combatant’s
rapier fighting awards (MOD, White Scarf, Talon).
- Saturday Iron Star tournament: Ansteorra’s premier 5-man rapier melee
tournament. Put together your best fighters (maximum 2 White Scarves or
MODs) and compete to take home the Iron Star!

Archery:
- Come vie on Saturday to become the Steppes Archery Champion. More details
on the format to follow!

Hafla with classes:
Saturday night will see one of this Kingdom’s favorite revelry pastimes, a
Middle Eastern Hafla. But we will also be holding beginner/advanced classes
on both dancing and drumming during the day on Saturday. These classes will
be taught 6 of Ansteorra's Kingdom dance champions. So come learn how to
shimmy, jingle, and/or drum, and come help us make Saturday night’s Hafla
extra fun!

Artisan’s Enclave:
There will be an area set up for other Artisans to teach classes, hold
demos, and answer questions.

Brewing Competition:
Bring your best homebrew of any kind, along with available documentation.

Ansteorran Longship Company:
The Known World renowned master chefs of the Ansteorran Longship Company
will be making their famous breakfast omelets on both Saturday and Sunday
morning!

And of course, there will be the usual shopping, court, and lots of other
fun. So please come join the Barony of the Steppes at Warlord from May
26-28 (Memorial Day Weekend)!
