I agree whole-heartedly, Lord Black... I am in favor of keeping things fair on the battlefield.  The reason for my confusion at Sir Kief's first statement was an event in Meridies some years ago... melees with combat archery, but the archers (mostly non-combative ladies) were off limits!  They were not subject to return fire from opposing archers.  (Was amussing watching the ladies with full wimples and dagged sleeves shooting bows... until they hit you!) The 10-foot rule was in place... but no touch.  I was wondering if this was being brought back for one of the Gulf War scenarios.
