Greetings, good folk. I recently came across a site which features
scanned-in medieval manuscripts from several of the libraries of Oxford,
and thought it might be of interest.

http://image.ox.ac.uk/

"Early Manuscripts at Oxford University"

"Digital facsimiles of complete manuscripts, scanned directly from the
originals."

"The project forms part of the Specialised Research Collections in the
Humanities initiative supported by the Higher Education Funding bodies of
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland under the direction of the
Non-Formula Funding Committee. Beginning with collections of Celtic
manuscripts from several Oxford libraries, and subsequently extended to
include a broader range, the project is creating high resolution digital
images, which are stored on the Oxford University Hierarchical File
Server, and made available over the international networks."

I find this almost as good as looking at originals, and almost as "bad," in
the sense that there has been no translating or other interpretation done.
They are extremely clear (at least on my system) and may be downloaded for
study purposes.

Although many of these are outside of this list's area of focus, there are
at least two manuscripts dealing with music theory.

regards,

Rowen Brithwallt

"I do not resent growing older - many are not granted that privilege."
