About 8 months ago, I said at a Red Tape event, that it would be nice if we had an Event Site Database so that people could research various sites that had been used throughout the kingdom to see if any of them might be useful to their group. Richard told me to get that together as it seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately, he was unaware of a minor problem. I had no software or expertise in designing databases. So for the next 5 months, I spent the time learning database design and finding software which would run on my cranky throw together computor. Another important consideration was software that did not cost me $500. I reported to the July Red Tape that I had managed to put together a passable database design and had entered about 19 entries so far. I use the BlackStar to contact event stewards about their sites and had used the June Blackstar to set up what I reported on in July. Not to shift any blaim, but just to explain, since the last two BlackStar's have been delayed and since school started back up for me on Aug. 10th, I haven't done anything with the database since. I hope to start contacting autocrats again soon and getting more information in the database. It will take some time to input everything but eventually all that it will take is the ocasional update of a new site. Hope this helps. Until then, I remain...
