Greetings Good Gentles, On Sept. 8-10, the Barony of The Stargate will be hosting their Baronial Champion/Investiture in Livingston. (See posts elsewhere on the lists). Along with numerous other events, we will be hosting an A & S competition. Here is some information you might be interested in if you are an artisan. 1. Entry of your work will be from 10 am to 11 am. Judging will be from 11 am until 1 pm. I will provide a light lunch of finger foods and tea/ice water for the judges. A&S will be open to viewing by the populace from 1 pm until 3 pm. All work is to be removed from the competition area no later than 3:30 pm. 2. Competition is a "body of work". You may just show up the morning of and enter. However, in order to try to procure judges with expertise in the areas of submitted work, an RSVP to myself would be very nice. 3. Documentation is requested. There have been numerous classes throughout the kingdom in recent years on what constitutes documentation. Here is a brief synopsis. A. Tell what the item(s) is (are). B. Tell how it is period (or not). C. Is it a reproduction of a known piece of medieval work; or a creative piece inspired by a medieval work. D. Explain how you made the work. E. Include any bibliography/resources you might have consulted. 4, Your documentation should try to stay short for the most part. Judges don't normally have the time to wade through reams of documentation. I've seen really good documentation kept at 1 typed page or less. This is not to discourage those who have taken the time to research the reams of documentation. If you have such, enter with them, of course. But I suggest that you prominately display a "synopsis" documentation for the judges to peruse first. Then if they need or want more, they can look further. This is about it. Please RSVP myself if you intend to enter. I look forward to seeing all the wonderful work the artisans have been doing. Until then, I remain...
