To all Scots....and those who know a Scot, or just like good music and entertainment. This year's Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games begins Friday in Arlington. (University of Texas at Arlington) In conjunction with this event is the Scottish Family History Symposium at the La Quinta Conference Center at 825 N. Watson Rd., off of Six Flags Drive. Back by popular demand is David Dobson of St. Andrews, Scotland. The author of more than 48 books on Scottish immigrants and colonists, he is recognized as the foremost authority on Scottish Settlements. It is not enough to know that your surname is Scots. That will not enable you to identify your clan. It will be necessary to have your pedigree back to the ancestral home in Scotland. Dr Dobson will discuss the origins and significance of Scottish surnames; Scottish immigration to America before 1750 and between 1750 and 1825; and locating your immigrant ancestor. The symposium will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Registration fee is $45.00, which includes all seminar costs , lunch and refreshments. COPIED FROM THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS, SATURDAY, MAY 31. Details are available by calling 1-800-650-1918. NOTE; THE SCOTTISH FESTIVAL AND HIGHLAND GAMES IS A WONDERFUL TIME TO ENJOY THE GOOD MUSIC AND LIFE OF THE TIMES. Enjoy...
