From Me= resankh Wimhotep (mka Wendy Wimberley), to all good gentles who so gra= ciously offered my lord husband and myself and our son, and Lady Pamel= a and son Brandon refuge from the storm, I want to extend my most grateful = thanks for your offers of sanctuary from the hurricane. I have spoken to so= me of you personally, emailed some, and intend to speak with seve= ral more via phone in the next day or so. We can not thank you enough for y= our offers of help. I have heard that SCAdians are wonderfully generou= s, helpful folks, and while I never doubted this, now I have seen it for my= self. Over the course of our evacuation we received calls from at least fou= r people/ families offering space in their homes, for us and for the&n bsp;menagerie we had with us (4 cats and a dog), and upon gaining access to= my email I found one more offer that I wasn't able to receive beforehand.&= nbsp; I will not mention = names lest I forget someone, but I have all names of those I spoke with and= if I haven't contacted you yet, I think you will hear from me by phone of = email soon. Here is our tale: &= nbsp; We had originally intended to try and evac to the condo of my brother= -in-law in Onalaska, then decided to strike out north somewhere when it app= eared that the storm would head to Houston. After getting stuck in the exod= us north from Silsbee on hwy 69, we received an invitation = to stay with some folks up in Lewisville, so accepted that and intended to = head up 69 to I-20 and over to Dallas. Then we got a call from someone in W= hitehouse, offering us a place to crash en route to Dallas area. We thought= we would take that, but as time went forward and we didn't, we thought tha= t we would see if we could stop in Woodville at the Inn and see if they wou= ld rent us floor space in the lobby. They wouldn't and since it was 5 = a.m. at that time, we opted to go back to plan A (Onalaska) and simply head west. So we did, and at the end of a twelve hour trip found ourselves with= shelter and a working radio. That was when we heard that= the hurricane had shifted course and was heading more for East TX. After a= ll was over, we heard that Woodville, Tyler, and all else in east TX had ta= ken the brunt of things, so I think we were Providentially directed in our = course. At present, we are back in LaPorte at the home = of Ld Caradoc and Ldy Pamela (the Isaacsons), former Bordermarchers. We hav= e not been able to contact others from Bordermarch, nor will= we be able to get back in to assess damage, FEMA has blocked ac= cess to Hardin County and sherrif's office has no idea when allowance will = be made. We do know that at least house seems to be standing. Should anyone from Bordermarch need or want to contact us, my cell phone number is 409-550-1932, my husband Kurt's is 409-550-1088. We have heard that TE Sim= onn and Tessa and TE Armand and Caitrin are ok. Thanks be! Thanks for everyone's patience with this missiv= e. I did not intend to be long-winded here but am still tired and it makes = me ditzy. God bless all, and again, many, many thanks for the generos ity of all.
