I make hair pins, the kind you stab through a bun to keep it up.  A couple of people have told me they are period, but neglected to mention which period and where.  I have searched several museums and all the webpages I can find, but the only hair pins I have located have been from first century Roman Britain, which is a bit early.  If anyone can direct me to a resource that documents the use of hair pins a bit later, I would appreciate it.
