comfortable with what we do...then worry about how "period" (or accurate as
possible with modern materials to be more precise) they become.

This is certainly a pearl of wisdom. We need to help newcomer get use to the courtesies and customs of our kingdom. It is very important that we as a group become user friendly. Some people approach this by dropping the things that make the magic but this is mistake. Playing the game and living the dream and the studying history are the things that make us different form other groups. I was raised in the Old South so our way of doing things didn't seem strange. Also I was here from A.S. 3 so I influenced many of our customs, but today that kind of formality is very strange, We need to show people it isn't that hard and all right to make mistakes. Also please help people get over their peer fear. It is lonely when everyone stands 10 feet away.
