I am going to a little Bardic event. We do it every month and people come in sort of persona. To me it is the year 1207. I have been trading with the Latin Kingdom of Constantinople. I have been getting textiles and art for several years . In persona i have been sent a antique diadem and gown. I am very impressed with them . It looks very much like the things I saw worn was I was in Constantinople in 1184. I have decided to show it off tonight. I might even show it off at Artisan of the Steppes.  When I go to the event  I will talk about the Pope's crusade in the South of France. He set up the Latin Kingdom. I might even talk about the schism of the Eastern Church. That is a great scandal right now. I will certainly talk about how the church is coming down on troubadours in the south of France area. Moat performing activities are going underground . Even though it is a little early I might work the story of Count Simon of Montfort and killing everyone in the town and saying "God will sort them out."
Bringing props or new items and talking about them especially new things (inventions of the period) allow you to show off your persona. 
I have been doing research on jesters and I have found 3 sources that claim jesters started in around 1202. There are no footnotes on this info so I am still looking for back up. If the data is true it would be a perfect time for me to acquire a jest or and introduce them to the Court of Ansteorra.  This would be something I would do in period.
