Gilli responds:
>>>I do think how ever that if
the person really wanted to do both that the marshal in charge would come up
with some arrangement to help out. Could it be that the people just thought
it was in the to hard to do box and didn't even try? Probably so.<<<<

Very possible. If the marshal in charge and the rest of the people shooting
appear hostile to interruptions, is that assumption more likely? Probably.
I'm not arguing that it's not possible, I'm commenting that it's not easy.

Again, what's the goal? If your goal is to have a lot of people
participating
in archery, the community as it is is failing. That means changing attitudes
and actions if we're going to work toward more participation.

>>>>>>On the convenient and fun and fun thing, how long do you think it will
be
fun if almost every time there's one of those fun shoots one of the small
group wins it? I get groaned at almost every time because I do win alot.
And mostly if it's not me than it's one of the others in that small group.
I'm not saying that shooting for score is the end all of archery. But you
do get ample practice to see you through almost any fun shoot.<<<<

I suspect if it bothers someone to lose then they will either practice
(thereby making
them more likely to shoot for score), or quit. However, if we only shoot for
score
those people are likely to not try it at all.

>>>>
Have you ever shot an IKAC or an IKCAC? I'm inclined to think not if you're
still looking for a challenge of your personal skill and concentration.
Give
it try and let me know.<<<<<

Your inclination is incorrect-I've shot both IKAC and IKCAC several times,
both in this kingdom and in the Middle. I enjoy the IKAC quite a bit. I just
don't find shooting it
at events to be as enjoyable as other aspects, and local practice is
currently combat only. The IKCAC I find to be a very unrealistic simulation
of actual combat archery, as
well as not being particularly enjoyable. Although I shoot at combat targets
for practice quite often, I'm unlikely to shoot IKCAC for score ever again.
I leave that
to the specialists with their rabbit blunts and fencing masks <grin>.
My personal challenge comes every year at Pennsic, shooting for war points.

>>>>You don't feel a little down hearted when you hear that Ansteorra isn't
first in what ever it is?<<<<

Honestly, I don't. I don't chose to be competitive about archery. I save
that for the heavy field.

>>>>That's a hoot. That's fun. That's a rush.<<<<

But it's one that few people will experience if they never try the art.
