Good points all gentlemen,

Since I had joined the SCA the idea of chivalry has always appealed to
me. Although in the face of adversities placed before us at times it has
been a most difficult ideal to maintain.

I still consider myself a recent newcomer into this society and as such
when I did met those "legendary archers" of the SCA the first impressions
are still very fresh in my mind. Let's face it, in general archers are a
rough hewn bunch, not at all what I had expected. However, in time I
began witness upon the battlefields, ranges, sites, and courts our
archers passion and love of both our society and sport to make the
seduction complete. I consider myself in good company to be counted
among you! There is great chivalry and honor among the archers of
Ansteorra. I would hope our premier members of the Order of Arcus
Majoris will consider the concept of the chivalrous archer when making
their suggestions to the crown for new inductees.

There has been some discussion of the "King's Archer" award and it's
relationship with the Order of Arcus Majoris. If ones goal is to obtain
either these awards as a personal badge then you have sorely missed the
point here. Not wishing diminish the honor of those holders of the braid
of the King's Archer I would dare say that if you hold that honor then
you could consider yourself on the right path for induction. However I
would not want to see that become a requirement for an inductee into the
Order of Arcus Majoris.

Our premier members of the order do have a difficult task before them.
Setting the standards for all those who shall follow and walk that path.
Having had the honor of sitting in court during the announcement reading
& installation of the first member of the order I have the privilege to
know who the all premier members of the order are. The creators of the
order did wisely in choosing three of the best representatives of our
archery community. I would say they shall be up to that task!

Just a bit more fuel for the fire,

Ironwyrm
