Alden,   Try  covering it with thin leather. and sew the seams together.
I had that on my cross bow to cover up the Metal prod.

I got my bows today!  Woohoo!

They look pretty nice, but I may have to do some cosmetic work on them.
Their being bright red doesn't bother me so much as the big black letters on
the front labelling them "INDIAN" however does.

Still, for the price, I'm very happy. :)
