While there are indeed holders of the Kings Archer that should be considered
for this award, I don't think it would be a good idea to just say that
everyone is ready for this award. That in my opinion would be like saying
everyone that has a Queens Rapier, or a Sable Falcon is ready for a White
Scarf or a Centurion's Cloak. Personally while I am honored to have been
selected as one of the principles of this order, I don't have all the
characteristics that are embodied in the Constitution. But as I have been
told that one of our past Kings said when he was to be Knighted, ' If I am
not ready I need to get there as fast as I can.' This is my intention. This
order like everything else will evolve and change as time passes. What we as
members of this Order does with this is up to us to influence the perception
of this Order. If we seek to be seen in the same light as the Dons and
Centurions, then we need to act like we want to be seen that way.

Subject: [Ansteorra-archery] The new award
Greetings and Hi There,
It is indeed a grand and glorious time we, as archers, live in. And
yet,
there is so much more to be done. HL Fearghus, the two yet named on
this
list (wonder who they could be, hummmmm) and the Crown will have a
mighty
task before them. And that task is, "Who will be #4, 5, 6, etc?".
How do you pick? One logical step is to select folks from those who
have a
Kings Archer. But many worthy people have yet to recieve that
award. If it
were up to me, I'd waive a majic wand and make all those who have
the Kings
Archer, it's been given out with more or less the same frequency as
a Grant
award, members of the new order. But I can't do that, can I?
If you look through the marvolously organized mass of information HE
Rumil
has provided us in the OP (I'm still amazed at that thing, GOOD
JOB), you'll
see a wide range of amounts of the various awards given in any given
year.
It ranges from just one for both the WSA and the Iris in the first
year of
the Kingdom (also 83, 87, 91, 97 for the WSA) to the maximum of 36
Iris
given in 1995. If you look at the info yourself, you can do whatever
statisical analiyis you wish.
Anyway, let me put an end to this rambling of mine, got to get ready
for
work. For some whatever the pace is will seem excruciatingly slow;
for
others too swift. The award is for us archers. Sooner or later,
the books
will come into balance. In the mean time, shoot more arrows, you're
bound
to hit something.
