I'm glad you asked.  I don't know if you're familiar with The Traditional
Bowyer's Bible.
Three volumes have been published (they're available at Hastings, Barnes &
Noble, and naturally, Amazon.com), the one you're looking for is volume two.
In volume two, there's a whole chapter dedicated to making bows out of
boards.  It's a great book, and a good investment for someone wanting to try
their hand at bowmaking.
