[Ansteorra-archery] Combat archery Marshals

I will make sure the classes you need are at Warlord even if they are unofficial/not on the schedule. I'm sure Ironwyrm will take any help he can get on the range as well. I will do what I can to Castellan at the end of May as well.

The procedure for becoming an Archery Marshal isn't very hard it just takes time and some study. The AOB proceedings on the http://archery.ansteorra.org pages are pretty good reading for learning what you need to know. I actually taught/wrote up the pages for most of the marshallate stuff for the AOB in 2001.

You will need to run a range or two and be signed off as being safe. You will need to know the basics of inspecting target and combat equipment. Construction of Good Missles is a good thing to know as well. (It's not fun to make it to war and find you have to redo a hundred+ arrows for a simple mistake in cunstruction)

You will need to know the rules for Combat archery, including the basic armor requirements. Also knowing the basic differences in our rules and the Gulf War conventions is a plus. (Again, it minimizes surprises when you get to war) Given your Northern location an idea of the rules for Calontir are again a plus as many archers may shoot in both locations.

I made a trip to the North last year to meet/teach several archery people. Some actually managed to get signed off as Marshals when they came to AoB in June as well.

Good people to talk to in the North include but isn't limited to:
HE Ulf Gunnarson , HE Barn Silveraxe, HE Rumil Fletcher, Lord Artair MacMorra.

After checking out group websites, it appears there are still too many 'Vacant' local archery marshal positions. Guess it's time to travel again this year.

What Collegiums are held in the North where I might teach class or two?

I have spoken with the Central Regional Chivalric Marshal about setting up a travelling roadshow to teach marshalling classes around the kingdom. Please ask on your local area lists what interest there would be in this. I will try to make any event I can where people want to learn about archery, or arrange for someone closer to be at the event. The number of people interested and confirmed for attending the event will determine how hard I work at getting there. <G>

In Service to the Dream,
through Service to Crown and Kingdom,
Lord Wilim Penbras ap Gurgeneu, Esq.
