Greetings Diethelm,

I hope someone has contacted you all ready. According to the Traditional
Bowyer's Bible you need to seal both the cut log ends with varnish,
paint, or Elmer's white glue ASAP after cutting to prevent cracking from
moisture loss. Then you will have to decried how you plan to dry it. A
whole log that size can take a year or longer to dry. If Osage is split
to staves or split into staves with the bark & sapwood stripped away it
will dry in month(s) according to Ron Hardcastle in the TBB.

I wish I could advice you with the voice of experience, however I'm just
another fledgling bowyer trying to learn the wood myself. Good luck!
