H.L. Plachoya is correct.

In fact if you go to http://archery.ansteorra.org you will find that there
has never been reference to the new Baldar's as being a preferred (or for
that matter even approved) blunt.

As I see it there was really only one reason to ever buy a Baldar Blunt and
that was you had more money than you had time.

Reasons to use Modified Marklands instead of Baldar Blunts.

1. After having been used for over 30 years in combat archery to my
knowledge there has never been a legal helm penetrated or an injury caused
by a properly made modified markland head.

2. Baldar Blunts are a single source item with limited availability. The
parts used to make a modified markland blunt can be mail-ordered from many
places or obtained locally in essentially any major metropolitan area.

3. When a modified markland blunt is damaged it can usually be repaired,
New foam, new tape, yer usually ready to go. When a Baldar Blunt breaks ya
throw it away.

4. Baldar Blunts are expensive. I can make three or four UHMW cored
modified Marklands for the price that I can buy a Baldar Blunt.

5. Baldar Blunts are heavier than modified marklands and therefore decrease
the useable range of your arrow or bolt.

6. People like Gilli have made and repaired thousands of modfied markland
heads. There is a good knowledge base out there.

7. Baldar Blunts hurt and bruise more than a modified markland. They don't
make friends.
