I went to NorthStar Archery web site and found the following additional
information concerning these egg shape blunts, if someone bought them
from Northstar Archery (possible at this year's Gulf Wars XII):

Effective April 20th, 2003, these blunts are NOT legal for SCA combat
archery without modifications. The nature of these modification has not
yet been established by the governing authorities. We will publish
details as soon as we receive them. If you have placed or received an
order for these blunts within the past few weeks, don't panick, we will
likely be preparing a modification kit that we will provide free of
charge to our valued customers who have invested in this equipment.

So wait and see what the modification kit is before doing anything with
those blunts.

I suggest that anyone bought any of these egg shape blunts other than
from NorthStar Archery check that supplier web site and see if they are
also being proactive in handling this issue.
