I have a gauge (somewhere)  but if the helm has been passing Ansteorran
inspection then it should continue to pass, else it never should have passed
before.

If ya have a micrometer or other good measuring tool,

Gauge   Frac. Inch  Dec. Inch
16         1/16    .0625
18         1/20    .05

If your helm is 1/16" or thicker then you are ok.
