Hello, Michael here.

I will cover a couple of things that might or might not be of interest
to everyone.

On to Ld Eadric Anstapa question on, where I get my Golf Tubes?

I get my golf tubes from Walmart and I get the jumbo size, just because
I can get my thumb inside of it and to ensure a minimum diameter of 1.25
inches. I also take a small ruler and measure these Golf Tubes prior to
buying as well.

I will be at Gulf Wars this year, arriving Monday sometime. If anyone
wants to see how I build Golf Tube APDs, look for the Condottieri camp.
Plans are to mark the location on the site map for several others who
will be joining us later in the week.

After Gulf Wars is over, I can be found in North Dallas, City of
Carrollton's park - Mary Heads Carter park. Usually from 2 PM until
sunset on Sunday afternoons. Then some events - usually War events or
those that will have War practice(s) and combat archery.

The construction that I use for a Golf Tube APD is what was called "The
Ansteorran" or now by Society "The Angle Cut Golf Tube APD".

Go to:
http://middleford.ansterroa.org/APD_Construction.htm

Which Ld Gilli and others developed and I assisted in battlefield
testing back in 2001. This will provide you with the base idea. I use
more tape than what is shown on the above web site.

I prefer using Golf Tube APD's my choice, just as it is Ld Eadric
Anstapa, who prefers Siloflex. No big deal - each to their own. Both
types are approved.

Received word on SCA approved name - Submitted "Michael of the Fray" and
I did allow for minor changes. Heard back from the Heralds and the name
is -

"Michael Fray".

So I will be answering to "Michael Fray" from now on.

Unit that I support as combat archer is the "Condottieri", no longer
with the "Fray".

In those cases just take the time to get it right. Thank you for asking to make sure that you get it right.

A direct link to the Golf Tube APD page on that site is http://www.combat-archery.com/gtapd.htm That page is the definitive page regarding what is required of Golf Tube APDs

I've shown a couple of the ones I've made to Baron Ulf but he's not familiar with the specifics on them so he wasn't sure what to tell me. And, with Gulf Wars just a few days away, I'm afraid I didn't make them correctly. I've got a couple of pics I could send but they're not the greatest quality.
