I would like to thank everyone for their assorted input to my question about reactivating the Youth Division for the IntraAnsteorran Archery Competition (IAAC).

Before I go further, let me explain what the IntraAnsteorran Archery Competition (IAAC) is. The IAAC is a privately sponsored competition by myself and my wife, HL Darcy Evaline o’Lasgwm. We’ve been doing it for quite some time. The IAAC, in recent years, mirrored the IKAC; having the same divisions. If you would like more history of the IAAC, I can give it later.

Now, the IAAC is expanding just a bit. I’m bringing back the Youth Open Division for the IAAC on a two-year trial basis. If there is enough interest, I’ll bring the Youth Period Division latter. We will be using the following rules:

1). To compete in this division, the archer must be 14 years old but not yet 18.

2). The same IKAC rules apply except for distances. These distances are: 15 yards, 20 yards and 30 yards. Arrows may use either period style or plastic nocks.

3). Scores must be sent to me at gilli at hot.rr.com. The same 30-day to send them to me applies. After I post the scores, you’ll have 30 days to contact me for any corrects. After that, that score is final.

4). The Youths may, and are encouraged to do so, practice on the adult range as they are able to do so. However, once the youth has posted a score on the adult range, than their participation in the Youth Division is done. Since a youth venue was not available within the Kingdom till now, any youth, should there be any, that has posted an Open IKAC score may go back to Youth Division. If they should wish to, it will be determined on a case-by-case basis. I’m not going to put a shark in the fish tank.

5). In addition to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place archers in the division getting medallions, the Youth Division will also use the same ranking system as the Kingdom’s RR for tassels. A purple knot will be use to indicate the Youth Division. I will supply the tassels for the Youth Division for those who want them. Should someone want to do their own tassel, that’s OK too. As soon as the Youth qualifies for a tassel, they may wear it. Replacement tassels are the archer’s responsibility

6). New rules may be added or changes made as needed.

7). The competition begins at the posting of this message and continues with the normal IKAC season.

To submit a score I need the following information:

Name of Event:

Marshal in Charge:

Location of Shoot:

Date:

SCA Name:

Mundane Name:

Date of Birth:

Home Branch:

Score:

I will try to get a web site up for tracking scores. At a minimum, till I get the website going, I’ll post the scores

by email.

Any further questions or comments may be sent to me.

Thanks.

Gilli
