Was asked of me the other day to make a handbow but use aspen as the wood.
Anyone ever used aspen - if so did it work? thoughts on it etc?

I have been using oak, hickory and pacific yew (TG for friends in oregon) to
great success but have never heard of aspen being used.

Thanks

It could be done, but I wouldn't attempt it, aspen is fairly brittle, with a
tendency to snap under very little weight. Only bow style I could think of
that might work with aspen is a so called "paddle bow", i.e., very wide limbs.
So my answer would be, unless they just want to hang it on the wall for
decoration, skip the aspen, and the headache.
