I don't know about that, Arthur. There is at least one knight that has been posting that is less than thrilled with CA and he is from Ansteorra. At least I sure see his name on the Ansteorran list from time to time. While he isn't as negative as some, he certainly isn't positive, either.

greetings

first let me say , that while several out of kingdom kings / dukes / knights have expressed strong desire to see combat archery done away with completely ,or heavily modified , usualy stating that it is for " safety reasons " .
however , i have to date seen no anti combat archery posts made by ansteorran knights !
yes , fear can ruin everything, but that sword cuts both ways. over reacting to false statements can cause just as much trouble as making false statements.
please don't let the words of a few loud nay sayers , prompt anything less than an honorable response .
remember , our kingdom , doesn't suffer so much from this sad disease.
i am not very familiar with other kingdoms ways or systems of honor , so i can't say for sure ,

but just maybe , at least in ansteorra, our people look at " honor and acting honorably " as more than something you swear to do once, and never have to think about again ??
perhaps putting your own " feelings " aside for the benifit of the kingdom isn't some strange thought brought on by too much drink .

but who knows ; )

keep going to events, keep having fun , the society just changed the combat rules, so i don't see them suddenly dropping combat archery .

be safe, be happy,have fun
arthur

It never fails. Fear ruins everything. I have been doing this for a heckof a long time and have seen ZERO injuries due to combat archery. I haveseen injuries due to poor helmet fit, bad armor strapping, poor fightingability, lack of fitness, poor shield design, and about a dozen otherthings. I think what we have is a bunch of "invincibles" who get theirpanties in a wad because a lowly "peasant" can take them out with a wellplaced shot. Their answer is to make arrows that SUCK! Why don't we justmake our swords out of siloflex too! That way no body can get hurt whensomeone strikes them. This is another example of why the SCA will one day be no better than arole-playing fantasy group. Maybe we should all carry multi sided diceand we can just throw them at each other!Jeez....wussies suck the fun out of everything!Reinhardt Stahlhelm-----Original Message-----From: ansteorra-archery-bounces at lists.ansteorra.org[mailto:ansteorra-archery-bounces at lists.ansteorra.org] On Behalf Ofansteorra-archery-request at lists.ansteorra.orgSent: Tuesday, December 16, 2008 3:55 PMTo: ansteorra-archery at lists.ansteorra.orgSubject: Ansteorra-archery Digest, Vol 31, Issue 27Send Ansteorra-archery mailing list submissions toansteorra-archery at lists.ansteorra.orgTo subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visithttp://lists.ansteorra.org/listinfo.cgi/ansteorra-archery-ansteorra.orgor, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' toansteorra-archery-request at lists.ansteorra.orgYou can reach the person managing the list atansteorra-archery-owner at lists.ansteorra.orgWhen replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specificthan "Re: Contents of Ansteorra-archery digest..."Today's Topics: 1.
