[Ansteorra-archery] Royal Rounds and IKAC

Well said, Eadric. I think that another problem with the IKAC is that it takes so long to get scores posted that a lot of people don't bother anymore. It's hard to see if you are really making progress if you only see updates a couple of times a year.

I shot only FITA's for a couple of years and when faced with a 3-d target for the first time, found it an interesting challenge, and a lot more fun. When the 'gold' isn't exactly in the center of the butt anymore, you have to think more about what you are doing. When I run a shoot, I make every effort to make sure that the archers are challenged and not facing things they see every weekend at practice. Scores may not be terribly high, but everyone has fun. IKACs and Royal Rounds are good ways to see how well you rank with other archers who are shooting IKACs and RRs, but if you can shoot well under non-standard conditions or at unusual targets with consistent accuracy....that's a real determination of how good an archer you are. I think that we place way too much emphasis on rankings and scores, myself. I'd rather shoot and have a good time.
