[Ansteorra-archery] Question About Sherwood Target Archery Competitions

Thats right, One year we said that the Shire Champion would be the best
finishing Crossbow would be our champion. All archers were allowed to
shoot (longbow/recurve/crossbow) and even win prizes but only the
highest finishing Crossbow would be declared the Shire Champion, get the
Scroll, get to carry the banner for a year, etc. there were prizes
awarded for each round and then a prize for the Champion. Since there
were prizes for each round, the Champions prize was slightly smaller.
So it was theoretically possible that a longbowman could win every round
and take home all the prizes except for the Champions prize which would
go to the highest placing Crossbowman.
Another year we did just the opposite saying that the highest finishing
longbow/recurve was the winner. We have been considering doing one
where the highest finishing period longbow/recurve shooting period
division equipment would be declared the winner.
This allows everyone to shoot and win prizes but still allows the
Champion to fit better within the theme of the event.
If you choose to do anything like this is should be announced well in
advance so that there is no chance that an archer will may a long trek
to your event and then discover that they are not eligible to win your
tournament
