[Ansteorra-archery] Combat bolts

Yeah, I was just copying and pasting that section. Ihon, I have rarely seen
bolts in Ansteorra that use anything but Baldars or some type of UHMW
blunts. I'd stick with those personally. But it sounds like Iaen, Pat or
Engenulf are standing ready for youJ.

Thanks guys!

Kenneth

Don't forget Marklands of all variations. They were made for wooden shafts
only. Wood shafts have been banned from use for a few years now.

John, I am sure if you gave myself, Pat or Engenulf a yell we could help
you. I would have added Eadric to the list but he has been quite busy of
late.

Ihon,

Components are simply the Asgard APD (since you specified that type), a
solid fiberglass shaft having a minimum diameter of 1/4 inch and maximum
diameter of 3/8 inch, and an SCA-approved blunt head. The Complete
Participant's Manual lists examples as: "a Markland or modified Markland,
Thistle Missile, Baldar, UHMW, Morak or other SCA approved combat blunt.
The padded face of the blunt may be flat, rounded or parabolic, but not
pointed."

If you use UHMW (ultra-high molecular weight) plastic blunts, the rules in
current versions of both SCA and Kingdom guides were changed in 2008. The
specifics of that change are here:
http://www.sca.org/officers/marshal/combat/c_archery/. The main thing is
that the face must be 1.5 inches in diameter, and not 1.25 inches. It also
has to have a "side-wrap." It's all explained on the site.

There are several merchants out there that sell this equipment.

I hope that helps!

Kenneth
