[Ansteorra-archery] [Ansteorra] Royal Huntsman - Special Tourney Rules***

Good Afternoon!

First I would like to state that this is not a change in the way Royal
Huntsman tourneys will be run, it is only a change for the way this ONE
will be run.

I believe that the Archery community has been growing and prospering
throughout Ansteorra. One of the reasons that it has been growing has
been the tourneys that have been run are always different. An archer
never knows what targets and what ranges they will be shooting at until
it is time to shoot.

This is another one of those times that things will be different. I
spoke with a number of archers both those that were target archers only
and those that could do both and spoke with other people to get their
take on it. I also checked with the Kingdom Archery Marshal and Kingdom
Earl Marshal to make sure what could and what could not be done, before
I proposed it to TRHs.

I believe that going with TRM to 3 Kings, BAM, and Gulf War and taking
the field with them and being in court at as many events and as often as
possible helps to raise the awareness of Archery as a whole. I challenge
all archers to continue to work and improve their skills and go to
events and make the archery tourneys bigger, more exciting, more fun,
and more of a draw. Then go to feast and court and let people know that
you are archers and what you do. This is how you build.

I have seen it argued that Combat Archery is PART of the archery
community and I have seen it argued that it is part of the armored
combat community. At this point in time I have not seen any ruling come
down saying one way or the other.

Traditionally the Crown decides when, where, and how they want the
tourney run with input from the Royal Huntsman and then it is their duty
to run the tourney to find their replacement. This is what has happened
here also.

So, although we may disagree on whether or not this helps or hurts
archery within the Kingdom and the SCA at least I am comforted in
knowing that your wish and desire is only for it to grow and prosper.

YIS,

Vincenti
