[Ansteorra-archery] While were shaking things up ...

greetings

sorry , not a valid argument . the " combat " " ikcac " round was usually in the middle of the tourney, and just one round, so any archer could take one loss and still continue on to " win ".
the activities you describe could not happen during a target shoot, and thus don't count .

the royal huntsman tourney has never been a combat tourney.

the problem seems to be that the combat archers want to straddle the fence , and have the best of both worlds, instead of deciding to follow one path or the other.

but as you say each crown will make its own choices .

the current rules are set.

please go , have fun , whether that's watching , shooting ,marshaling or just visiting with friends you haven't seen in a while .

Be Safe , Be Happy, Have Fun .
Arthur

If we take it as a given that both sides of the archery community, target and combat, are both of equal value, then it could be said that combat archery has been given the shaft (buh dum bum) for a number of years. In most other RH tourneys, there was use of CA equipment, but the final round was target archery.

<restating Karl's argument from the other point of view>
And if you cant play TA, you are replaced by someone who you may have just defeated. So it really wouldnt matter how hard you practiced would it? You could hit every single faceshot, get a kill shot on Uber Duke past his shield while he's running you down and were the greatest archer since Ghengis Kahn, you still WILL NOT WIN unless you can shoot target archery in the final rounds.
  <end>

This one time, the roles are reversed. Personally, I love both aspects of archery so I don't care much which format is in the final rounds. I do like the idea that the archery champion of our Kingdom can represent BOTH sides of the community. That doesn't mean there is anything inherently wrong with people who do only target archery or only combat archery, but if we are going to have one person to champion all of archery, shouldn't it be someone who is at least familiar with both? After all, this is not just a tourney to be won for personal glory, but a job with responsibilities to the Crown and the rest of the community (and yes those responsibilities change depending on the Crown).

  Just my thoughts,
  Donnchadh

You should maybe read those tourney rules again. He didnt say final round, he said final round(s). As in everything after the drop out. You could hit every single bullseye, shoot the eye out of a swinging mouse and shoot twenty arrows in a speed round into the gold and were the greatest archer since Robin Hood, you still WILL NOT WIN unless you can shoot combat archery in the final rounds.

    Doesnt sound the same anymore,

What I wanted is that we dont leave the target archers who dont wish to play CA out in the cold. I want for all to see their time in the sun.
