<DIV class=RTE> I was told by Arcus Jaques that fletching slots on crossbows were not considered to be peiod. Well I went in search of rule definations on that - didn't find any. Arcus Jaque gave me some more places to look - still no specifications. There may be some place I have not looked. There is a lot of research out there that on the matter of what a peroid piece of equipment consist of and some of it conflicts with other. Two people can look at the same drawing and come to two very different opinions.</DIV>
<DIV class=RTE> Now it is well within the rights of the society and or the kingdom to make choices as to which version best suits the overall goal ( it might even be said they have this as a responsibility) and create a level of standards. My question is "Where can a local marshall go to find these specifications on what consistutes a period crossbow ?" . The only thing I have found so far is that fletchings must be of a period material and are limited to between 2 and 4, it says nothing to pattern which suggest that an X pattern is exceptable and that would mean slots were exceptable. As explained by Arcus Jaques, the four fletch pattern is the V wing pattern that does not use a slot. This is good information, but if I had not being showing Arcus Jaques a crossbow I was working on, the difference would have never come up. </DIV>
<DIV class=RTE> So, again without going to your Regional for every little thing or hunting down an Arcus, how or where does a local marshall get some of these basic questions answered (this is not to say that the Regional Marshalls or the Arcuses are not most willing to assist and train local marshalls, instead at least some of us want to be able to do some of this for ourselves). This does even go into the requirements for the Youth division but that is probably a whole different descussion. So, where do you go for the most up to date and current rules of Royal Rounds and IKACs? </DIV>
