<P>I have a suggestion for a date. If it is not going to be an actual SCA event, then there is always the thought of making it a Pensic Pitty Party. This is in no way meant to discourage anyone from attending Pensic. However it would mean that there would be little chance of it conflicting with any Ansteorran activity. It would also give time for supply list to be verified and purchases to be made. I personally need time to plan to make the 350 + mile trek, which I look foward to. </P>

<DIV></DIV>> Looks like the bowmaking seminar is a definite go, thanks for all the
<DIV></DIV>>interest and positive feed back. Location will be at Arcus Gilli and HL Darcy's,
<DIV></DIV>>since they've got a large workspace in "the hall", and an excellent archery
<DIV></DIV>>range (complete with permanent shade pavilion) on their property. Date/times TBA,
<DIV></DIV>>but we're getting closer to nailing that down. What I'd like to do is offer a
<DIV></DIV>>couple different possibilities, and see which one works best for the majority
<DIV></DIV>>of y'all. I'll have that info posted NLT tomorrow evening, so y'all can start
<DIV></DIV>>sounding off with your preference.

<DIV></DIV>> There was some concern about "significant others", that might be
<DIV></DIV>>accompanying y'all, getting bored with all the whittlin' and cussin'. Trust me, that
<DIV></DIV>>will not be a problem. Gilli and Darcy have worked hard to equip the "Hall" with
<DIV></DIV>>a professional grade kitchen, where a whole gamut of domestic arts can, and
<DIV></DIV>>do, take place. I'm talking cheese making, candle making, soap making, brewing,
<DIV></DIV>>basket weaving, et cetera, et cetera. So non-bowyers and non-archers will
<DIV></DIV>>still find plenty to do. We may even go ahead and schedule some classes in those
<DIV></DIV>>areas, but I'm not going to let my jabber jawing write checks that HL Darcy and
<DIV></DIV>>her helpers will have to cash. So, wait for us to coordinate and post a
<DIV></DIV>>schedule.

<DIV></DIV>> So, what to call this shindig? I'm a "keep it simple" kind of guy, so how

<DIV></DIV>>Bowyerthon '05 (catchy enough to go on a t-shirt <grin>).

<DIV></DIV>> One last thing. To separate the serious from the "mildly interested", I
<DIV></DIV>>WILL NOT be providing tools or materials. There will be tillering jigs, belt
<DIV></DIV>>sander, etc., available for use, but you'll need to bring your own bowstave,
<DIV></DIV>>sandpaper, and whatever you plan to carve your bow with. Don't Panic! I'll be
<DIV></DIV>>posting a series of e-mails detailing exactly what you need, where you can get it,
<DIV></DIV>>how much it costs, and ways to come up with inexpensive substitutes. If you
<DIV></DIV>>want to go fishing, you have to buy tackle, a license, and bait. There's not a
<DIV></DIV>>guy waiting down by the lake to hand you that stuff (I wish there were).
<DIV></DIV>>Same deal here. Fair enough? Of course, if you just want to come and watch, you
<DIV></DIV>>need bring nothing more than yourself and an appetite. Arcus Gilli just loves
<DIV></DIV>>feeding folks ;-)
