No basic sword and board armored combat auth is not required to use
thrown weapons and CA authorization is still a stand alone
authorization the only time a CA would need a basic S&B
authorization is if they carry a sword as a backup weapon. <br>

Well, since we have all had our say and are probably just confusing the person who asked this, lets just finish with this. Do you NEED an armored combat authorization? Maybe, maybe not. Would it be a good idea to get it? Sure. Why? Because this gives you more options on the field of battle. <br>

If you run out of throwing weapons and no one has thrown them back for you to re-use you can have a fishbat or a mace with a basket hilt hanging from your side as a backup weapon. If you use a bow or crossbow and its gets hit with an arrow (thus rendering it useless) you can still do something instead of getting taken out of the battle in a non-res-battle. It wont actually take that much extra time to get and will be worth it in the long run. Heck, even if you just pick up a shield and stand there for the guy next to you with a spear, its better than standing on the sidelines cause your crossbow is broke, youre out of ammo, etc.<br>
