Well most of that is archived from past Academy of the Bows. It is
past history but I think worth keeping. But then again that is why we

That's what I get for trying to multitask between rooms. Cut and pasted
too carelessly, I think. The target stuff hasn't changed much, but
combat...ugh, constant changes. Some of that needs to come off the page
or be archived someplace.<br>

Arden, you are getting good advice here. The only change I would make

heads were designed for wooden shafted combat arrows and are not legal

We are excited to hear that there is someone interested in starting up
archery in Rosenfeld. The nearest group to you that has regular
practices is the Barony of the Steppes. Weather permitting, they will
be holding practice next Sunday, the 20th at Eastfield College near the
tennis courts at 11 a.m. HL Katya will be officiating at that practice
as she and Sir Lasguaard rotate the duty.<br>

HL Iaen gave you the primary references that we use. There are no
official range requirements, as such, but generally you will want a
range wide enough for 5 ft of space between archers on the line and
your safety margins will extend 45 degrees from each end of that firing
line back to your farthest target and then straight back from that
target to a point that doubles the distance from the firing line to
that target. In the case of most shoots, that will be a 40 yard
distance from the firing line to the 40 yard target and then 40
additional yards beyond the target.<br>
<br>
Please note that this is not a requirement, but it is highly
recommended. There are exceptions, of course. The Steppes practice
range just barely fits most of this, but it is acceptable because it
has been used as an archery range by Eastfield College in the past.<br>
<br>
In order for you to hold official practices or submit scores for IKAC
or Royal Rounds, you must have a warranted marshal and an officer of
your group at the practice. If you are going to call this an SCA
practice, you must have a marshal present.<br>

considering getting back into archery (something that I have enjoyed
for years, but no longer have equipment), and recently was able to use
loaner gear and shoot at the Grand Assembly of Archers, and Emerald
Keep.</span></font></p>

is considered Rosenfeld, and there is no official archery there.</span></font></p>

three locations to practice, but they are 30, 40, and 60 minutes away.
(two archery stores and some type of park in Mineola)</span></font></p>

glanced at the Marshall’s handbook, but can not find any specifics for
setting up a target range and safety.</span></font></p>

style="font-family: Arial; color: navy; font-size: 10pt;">Ideally I
would love to find a closer location to set up, and even benefit more
SCA people, or even in conjunction with a heavy fighter practice at a
