Greetings All,
Thank you to everyone who came and helped to make the archery activities
this past weekend such a success.
The AoB portion of the event was wonderful. The seven classes were all
well attended and a lot of learning and teaching took place. I am
grateful for all of the instructors that spent their valuable time
preparing and teaching others their craft and to the students who
showed such attention and appreciation of the subjects and teachers.
The Royal Huntsman tournament was similarly a success. TRH Ulsted and
Ebergardis inspired Nineteen entrants into the tournament and the
competition was fierce. Counted among the competitors were the winners
of seven previous Royal Huntsman tournaments and other notable archers
from across the kingdom. The tournament was a cumulative score
tournament rather than an elimination tournament with shooting at five
different animal targets, the clout, a standard 5 color ring target, and
shooting with combat archery equipment. The winner of the tournament
literally could not have predicted until the very end and in the end it
was announced that Dante of Bryn Gwlad will serve as the Royal
Huntsman for TRH Ulsted and Ebergardis.
There were a few brave souls who braved the 90+ degree heat and high
humidity that gave us a heat index of well over 100 to come out on
Sunday and put on armor for the Melee Practice. All of the the fighters
and marshals there were Combat Archers and I am proud of the fortitude
displayed by the CA community. Despite the heat we did have some good
practice, good fun, and spent good time working with newer archers.
My great personal thanks to the Company of Saint Sebastian. You cleared
brush and downed trees, mowed grass, fought bees, wasps hornets, and
poison ivy so others did not have to, moved portacans, setup and took
down the range, taught 5 of the 7 classes, competed in the tournament,
participated in the melees, acted as water bearers, marshals, and
scorekeepers, and so much more. Without you the event, not just the
archery activities, would not have been anywhere near as successful as
it was. I am constantly inspired by you as a group.
Finally, I ask that we are are mindful and thankful to TRM Romanius and
Deanna for allowing us to have these activities at their Collegium, and
to TRH Ulsted and Ebergardis for the opportunity of their Royal Huntsman
tournament. Their guidance, leadership and inspiration fuels our
passion for the Society and love of Ansteorra.
Ever in Service,
Eadric Anstapa, CAO
