Below is the activities that I reported as a Missile-at-Large-Marshal
for the month of February, as well as being the Steppes Knight Marshal.
Richard Nine Fingers is 16 yrs old - parents present and minor waiver
signed.
Heavy fighting instruction provided by Sir Morgan at the request of the
Earl Marshal prior to taking the field as a combat archer trainee, this
was accomplished on the 11th of February.
Marshal in Charge: Ld Michael Kettering
18th of Month - Melee/training witness this day -Combat archery training
scenarios:
HL William Blackdragon present as an observer of Richard Nine Finger
performance on the field in order to report back to Earl Marshal, to aid
in authorizing Richard Nine Fingers as both a heavy fighter and combat
archer. HL William assisted during the inspection process of the
crossbow bolts.
First scenario:
Cross-bows being wield by Lord Alvin and son, Richard
Nine Fingers
vs
Sir Mahdi with kite and sword
Sir Morgan with kite and sword
Centurion Richard with round and sword
HL Honour with buckler and sword
Lord Hosey with buckler and sword
John of Green with kite and sword
Object of 1st scenario - heavy fighters advance across the field at a
walk. To provide necessary training of facing advancing force with
little pressure upon Richard Nine Fingers, as oppose to a full blown
charge. Secondary effect demonstrate that if a fighter is aware of the
archer on the field, then that archer will not have a major affect upon
those fighters.
Second scenario:
Sir Mahdi with kite and sword
Sir Morgan with kite and sword
vs
Centurion Richard with round and sword
HL Honour with buckler and sword
Lord Hosey with buckler and sword
Lord Alvin with crossbow
John of Green with kite and sword
Richard Nine Finger with crossbow
Object of 2nd scenario: Provide a shield wall with the archers back 10
feet, providing archer support such as one might find during a a static
line battle such as one might find during the Ravine Battle at Gulf Wars.
Third Scenario:
Sir Mahdi with kite and sword
Sir Morgan with kite and sword
vs
Centurion Richard with round and sword
HL Honour with buckler and sword
Lord Hosey with buckler and sword
Lord Alvin with crossbow
John of Green with kite and sword
Richard Nine Finger with crossbow
Object of 3rd scenario: Provide a shield wall with the archers back 10
feet on a restricted field such as one might find during a bridge or
gate or a town battle with lanes and houses. The goal was for the
archers to learn situation awareness in regard to support of a shield
wall, the real possibilities of pulse charges through the shield wall,
dealing with a charging with a heavy fighter bearing down on them, while
still being
able to maintain the minimum distance of 10 feet between them and that
heavy fighter in order to make a "legal" shot.
25th of Month - HL William Blackdragon and Lord Alvin de Clairmont
provided inspection of crossbows and cross
bolts while I looked on and record the various poundage of the crossbows
and the number of bolts used by all three archers.
5 Cross bows:
527 in-lbs. - Lord Alvin de Clairmont
586 in-lbs.- HL William Blackdragon
432 in-lbs. - Richard Nine Fingers (UNA)
448 in-lbs.
535 in-lbs.
Combat arrows:
24 Cross bolts (red markings) - HL William Blackdragon
21 Cross bolts (21 orange markings) - Lord Alvin de Clairmont
18 Cross bolts (black markings) - Richard Nine Fingers (UNA)
24 Cross bolts (green markings) not used on field.
Combat Archer Melees
1 on 1 - Lord Alvin de Clairmont vs Richard Nine Fingers
2 on 1 - HL William Blackdragon and Lord Alvin de
Clairmont vs Richard Nine Fingers
Switch sides:
HL William Blackdragon and Richard Nine Fingers
vs Lord Alvin de Clairmont
All three drills were from stationary positions then advancing toward
each other and shooting.
Last drill - Richard Nine Fingers working in support of HL William
Blackdragon versus Lord Lord Alvin de Clairmont
Ld Michael Kettering
Steppes Knight Marshal
