Why not plastic water bottles at 20 feet, duct taped to hand so as to not throw the water bottle. First one wet loses the match. Byron

I can understand the part about attempting to injure a person, but what
is the logic behind disallowing parries using bodily contact?

Sounds like a solution in search of a problem.

Has someone recently been injured due to a parry of this type? Or are we
trying to avoid all attempts at historical accuracy?

Perhaps there should be a ruling that prohibits rapier fighters from
coming within ten feet of each other, to be completely safe?

It was originally done in the rules rewrite in the late 90's. The society marshal, when the rules were being discussed said it was out, an insurance thing apparently, and was non-negotiable. Dylan recently noticed that it was not reflected int he current rules, and being a part of that discussion remembered the society marshal forbidding it, and brought the rules up to date, with the approval of the current society marshal and the BOD.
