[Ansteorra-rapier] Proposed revision to rapier rules

Exactly so...there is no "light" anywhere on the cards for rapier. I am curious about why and thought about something else. I am fairly new to the rapier community, about 4 years now. When I first started, it was not about epee/foil versus rapier but about the pre-existing smaller Rapier blades versus the new heavier Schlager blades which seemed to be in every discussion. That may be why we are seeing rapier versus Heavy rapier on the cards. People have merely forgoten why and are assuming it has to do with epee/foil. Is this possible? Karl Thorgeirsson

But the cards do not reflect that. The cards have three slots for Rapier.
1. Rapier Combat2. Heavy Rapier Combat3. Rapier Combat Marshal
So there is a disconnect between what you are seeing and what the cards show.

The authorizing cards are not set up for Rapier Combat. The auth cards are set up for Light or Heavy and then Marshal.
Unless a marshal only checked off light when meant heavy, which could happen but I would like to think a Marshal would know better.

Um....where are you getting these numbers? If someone is authorized for "Rapier Combat" in Ansteorra, they are authed for E/F. I would be shocked if there were only 20 fighters that have that on their cards. Difference between those authorized to fight it vs those that choose to fight it.

I think the fact that people are authorized to marshal a blade they have no clue about is a huge "broken" point.
Speaking from a simple numbers perspective, there really aren't that many fighters that fight F/E. Out of 500+ fencers, less than 20 of those are even authorized and of those 20, I know of at least 10 personally that don't fight F/E so I am not even sure why or how they got authorized.

Working from the statement, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," what is broken that we're trying to fix here? I've seen several solutions proposed, but I still haven't seen what we're proposing solutions FOR.
