[Ansteorra-rapier] A question about how we "Weight" fighters

Using a rank/OP based point structure for a tourney has been done for years. In 20+ years of active tourneying I have come across it many times. I think it works out ok in the end because those who are newer have less to lose from a single fight and more to gain from winning where as someone with higher awards are made to be a target which is what we should be anyway ;)

I would say that the awards and structure for points in an activity should be linked to the activity at hand. Making a knight the same target as a WS in a rapier tourney is not fair to the knight if they are new to the weapon. Such as I would hate to be the same target as a centurion in a hard suit tourney as I rarely pick up a taped piece of grass and hit people with it. There I would be the novice. Just my two coins which I will need back to place on the eyes of my next opponent ;).

Many events use this or a similar formula, it was just this publication that brought these thought back to the front of my mind. I've been kicking them around since the creating of the Optio, which became the Talon.
