[Ansteorra-textiles] Anatolians, was Great Pyrenees

Anatolian shepherds are also supposed to be excellent livestock (and family)
guard dogs.  They have almost no prey drive so they can be trusted around
any livestock usually (some people even use them for poultry), and they
aren't outwardly aggressive, just highly protective if an intruder
approaches what they are guarding.  They use them in Turkey to protect
livestock from large predators like wolves.  There are some breeders in
Texas and you can sometimes find mixes and purebreds through rescue
organizations (I was looking into them as a pet possibility).  Someone this
spring had Pyrenees-Anatolian mix puppies on www.petfinder.org (and they
were cute!).

Phoebe writes ...  Indeed! Friends of mine have a team to protect their
goats.  The dogs are great protectors of family and herd.  My friends will
soon have several puppies ready for new homes and duties.  The puppies must
essentially be "raised" with minimal human contact so they "think" they are
one of the same animal they are to protect.  Let me know if you want their
number phone number...they are just outside Stillwater, in Oklahoma.
