They could then give her places to find some as well.  Linen thread is used 
in a lot of crafts... bookbinding, leatherworking as well as 
embroidery.  Lace making suppliers have nice linen thread. (Lacis comes to 
mind as a place to look)  Also Straw into Gold or Dharma Trading Company.
