[Ansteorra-Textiles] Introduction & question

Greetings,
      I am Lord Griffin Van Meteren from The Shire of Emerald Keep. I have
tinkered around some with weaving. But today I have a question. I am in
search of information about the history and possible origin of the "Slate
Frame" used in embroidery. Any suggestions or ideas?

      Any info would be very helpful.
