Simple - good people are good people, even if they hold wrong (that is,
contrary to my own) opinions.

I agree. For me, the joy of the SCA lies in the game and the company,
not the medievalism. I'd rather focus on the entertainment rather
than the authenticity. Having said that, I know that many of great worth
feel differently and would rather see more emphasis on authenticity in the
Bardic arts. Since authenticity is one of the criteria for the Laurel, I
assume
most peers of that august circle are of that opinions.

So let us have a Bardic Event, or a competition, devoted to authenticity
in Bardic. Maybe we should call it "The Bardic Collegium", and have
classes on period poetic styles and the like. Barring unforseen
circumstances, I'd happily teach a class on Jewish Bardic and/or
Judeo-Spanish poetry. Then, we'll have a competition, judged by
Laurels, where Authenticity and Documentation will be given as much
weight as they want them to. Since "Bard of Ansteorra" is already taken,
I think "Dean of the Bardic College of Ansteorra" would be a good title
for the winner.
