[Bards] Bardic forum - and plug for the website

Hello All,

I think this is an excellent idea, and the only way to do this is to
just commit to it and do it.

Sign me up for the Bardmoot at GW.

I think that Steppes 12th night is the perfect place for a local forum,
actually, since the Eisteddfod has been there for the past several years
and will not be this year - that should free up a lot of our time to sit
and perform. The only thing I think we will need to be wary of is that
unless we snag the stage, it may be hard for us to hear each other (She
says - with nightmarish visions of trying to do bardic in the big hall
at Warlord - through tons of people and torrential rain on the metal
roof.) If we can snag either the upstairs room or the stage, or even a
corner, I would think that we should be able to hear.

So - as to how to turn this into a learning situation rather than a
regular bardic circle. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am
quite chagrined that I do not know even half of these favorite pieces. I
am actually dismayed that I don't know very many of you - or not by name
anyway. I propose that:

We make a list of the pieces that we would like to learn - or that we
would like others to learn, and each bring several copies to this forum.
I also think that I would benefit from this the most if we could arrange
some type of recording system so that we can get the tunes down, and
then copy the tapes/CDs. The only reason that Shea and I learned the
Queen's champion song is that Myfanwy kindly let us record her singing
it so that we could learn it later. I have a pretty nice recording setup
at home - but it is all run by my PC, and I don't intend to lug that up
there. I can, though, provide a decent microphone and a stand - but I
don't know what other equipment we might need in order to get it
recorded. I don't think my mic cord will plug into a regular tape
recorder. I would love to learn more of the music that was written
about/for Ansteorra. I know very little of it.

ALSO -

There is WAY too much mention of original music going on here that isn't
on our website. C'mon guys - C'mon Robin and Finn and Gerald (I know -
they are in the works) and Cat - PLEAAASE CAT - your stuff is so good -
I want a chance to learn it, and ULF - I have barely heard you perform
and you are on so many people's Favorite lists, and Lyric - why haven't
I met you? And Iain - I don't know if I know you either, and I think
that we should remedy this ASAP. Simone - I am not sure I have ever
heard anything that I knew was yours. Please post them - you have a good
ear and I want to see what you have written. Antonia - you have no
excuse whatsoever - please send your wonderful works to Bersi so he can
post them for everyone to enjoy. I think Thomas and all the roses would
love to have a place to go and read your original pieces written for
them. Elanor O'Rourke has a whole heap of good pieces that I would love
to learn - please post them! I have been bugging HRM Miguel to get his
original works on there. You know - I don't care if you have NO original
works you want to post - I would love to see your picture up there so
that I know who you all are. It is meant to be a forum for celebrating
our bards and our works. I am writing new pieces as fast as I can - but
I want to see some of the ones that you have written up there too. It is
the perfect place to collect the music of our kingdom - but only if we
put it there. Send your stuff to Bersi at: dseguin at sbcglobal.net

I want to ask all of you to visit the bardic website of another kingdom
- and let you see what I think ours could grow into - but only if we all
put our work into it. Please go look at the wonderful creations of our
brothers and sisters up North. http://bards.ca/

Tiggy - I signed up for your Bardbook group - and for some reason - call
me blonde - I can't find the files. Help? Can we also please put them on
the Anteorran bard's site? I will personally take a picture of you for
the site if that is what is holding you back :)

So - whew. Rant over.
