Ok - Eleanor pointed out that this is really my *second* song (see The Husbands' Retort on my bardic page at bard.ansteorra.org), but it's the first song I wrote with original music.
 
At Westgate Winter Collegium this weekend (yes - Winter in June), we were performing some bardic pieces, and a song that I sang at Gulf War a couple years ago came up in discussion, but it was NOT a song to be sung in polite company, so I wasn't going to sing it that night.  It prompted me to comment "That's a song right there - A song about a song that I'm not going to sing."  So I am happy to say that I put the idea down on paper and have come up with the following song.  I wrote three verses, but more can easily be added.

A Song About A Song

 

You call on me to sing a song

Because you heard it said,

That I’ve a song to make you gasp

And turn your face bright red.

But surely this is not the time,

Nor place for such a song,

The baroness is listening

And that would just be wrong.

 

So this is my song,
