Kat,

I am glad to see that you are already looking ahead to the format....it does give those of us who start prep early something to go on. However, I do hope that whatever format you choose, you will keep to that format and not change it at the last minute. I believe that all the worthy competitors should be able to count on you to keep to your word and have a fair chance in this competition. As I am sure you are as honorable as I was told, I will plan on entering again this year.

Your servant,
HL Elanor O'Ruark

The question has been raised to me about the format for the Kingdom
Eisteddfod. Since some people start preparing for this event months in
advance, I will share with you all what has been decided thus far. Once all
the details are worked out, I will post them to this list, as well as in The
Blackstar and online.

As I stated earlier, the competition will once again be held at Steppes
Twelfth Night. I'm still working out all the details, but I will tell you
that I very much liked the format Dona Antonia used. I believe that
bardcraft in the SCA has many different "styles" - the least of which are
the traditional "song, story & poem."

I feel that a titled bard should be able to perform in a feast hall, before
The Crown, around a campfire, on a listfield, and in a tavern - and in both
documentably period and crowd-pleasing styles (which can be, but are not
necessarily, mutually exclusive). A bard of Ansteorra should also be able
to share some Ansteorran history. In short, a bard should be able to adapt
a performance for his or her audience. If you can do this in more than one
"style," and with original work, all the better.

Since we will be limited by the time constraints of the event itself, we
will most likely hold either two or three preliminary rounds, with finalists
advancing from there.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. If I don't yet know the
answer, I will tell you as much!

Thanks,
Kat
