I am very sorry to hear of your loss, but happy for the fact that there was little or no pain.  My thoughts are with you and your family.

Matt's dad was taken off the respirator and died at around 8:30 this morning.
The MRI showed massive stroke damage in both hemispheres of the brain, but it happened all at once and we believe he felt little pain. There was no return to conciousness at any time during his wait in ICU. He died within minutes of being taken off the respirator, with very little struggle.
The funeral will be some time this week and he will be buried at the Dallas Ft. Worth VA cemetary with military honors.
This man was as much my father as is my own and I will miss him very much.
Matthew and his family are doing about as well as can be expected.  I will be monitoring the e-mail as I can, and will pass on any thoughts, wishes, and prayers to them.
