[Bards] As Shakespere, Shakespeare, Shaxbeard and Roger Bacon said...

It looks to me like the Northshield Bardic page is a small portion of their kingdom website, so it's linking a lot of non-bardic items as well. Ansteorra's site does not include such links at this time (though I should put links back to the kingdom A&S page at least, where our bards page is linked. Additionally, they seem to have a page on bardic....we have a SITE (many pages). You referenced the bardcraft page. If you're looking for a page on our site that is comparable (with a list of bards and their works), try http://bard.ansteorra.org/bards.html. There you'll find a listing of bards. Click on a name and it will take you to their individual bio page with links to their original works. Information is updated on the website primarily from what is sent to me directly. When I get a collection of about 10 items to update, I do so. I've repeatedly asked people to send me things that they want on the website.

>From the main page: http://bard.ansteorra.org you can navigate the numerous pages via the menu bar at the top: Home - News - Events - Bards - Bardcraft - Links - Files

Their website is, I think, much better than ours: there's more stuff linked
directly off the front page, a greater variety of stuff, and just more
stuff, period (or not). It invites the casual browser-by to loinger and
explore, and rewards him or her more quickly and amply.

Should we try to change ours to suit? I'll offer all my original works to
the site if someone's willing to give it a makeover.

Very nice piece Cadfan:) Wasn't there another famous Green Dragon Tavern
in Boston that was the headquarters for the Sons of Liberty? Kind of a
starting point for the American Revolution?

My 'Canadian' may be getting the better of me, so don't take my word for
it - I may be getting my radical plots confused. All your rebel plots
blend together sometimes:)

I loved the allusions to all of the different dragons and can imagine
this might be fodder for another verse. Is there a tune? If not I have a
few ideas;)

Tim/Garraed
(Lurking From Ealdormere)

Garraed! Whoa, are you the Garread who sang that Stan-Rogers-esque song
about Ealdormere at Gulf Wars? Good to have you here regardless, but
particularly so if you are.

I hadn't heard about the Green Dragon in Boston. I'll have to ask my old man
if he knows anything about it: he's a member of the Menotomy County Minute
Men (Revolutionary War re-enactment--like father, like son...).

If you'd like to take a whack at setting this to music, by all means do, and
welcome to it. In fact, I'd be honored.

Your Grace and Ansteorran Bards:

I'm in fact on the list, though I very rarely comment. Mundanity has
taken me away from the Society in large part for several months now, though
that may be changing in the near future. I've been happy to see the
resurgence of interest in bardic that seems evident from the activity on the
list, and I hope to be amongst you in the near future. I also hope to
attend the lecture if at all possible. Thank you, Your Grace, for thinking
of me. Your consideration warms my heart.

  Humbly,
  Do?a Antonia

Yes, there was. Good catch. Story available here:
http://freemasonrywatch.org/boston_tea_party.html

The Boston Tea Party was planned there, and Dr. Warren sent Paul Revere on
his ride from there. Not only was it connected with the start of the
revolution, but also with its end -- in 1788, a group of artisans met at the

Green Dragon and passed a series of resolutions urging that the U.S.
Constitution be ratified.

It evidently still exists, as shown here:
http://www.celticweb.com/greendragon/
http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2826519-green_dragon_tavern_boston-i

According to one site, there was a song about it:
The Rally Mohawks Song
(Sung after the Boston Tea Party)
Rally, Mohawks bring out your axes!
And tell King George we'll pay no taxes
     on his foreign tea!
His threats are vain - and vain to think
To force our girls and wives to drink
     His vile Bohea!
Then rally boys, and hasten on
To meet our Chiefs at the Green Dragon.
Our Warren's there, and bold Revere,
With hands to do and words to cheer
     For Liberty and Laws!
Our country's Braves and firm defenders
Shall ne'er be left by true North-Enders,
     Fighting Freedom's cause!
Then rally boys and hasten on
to meet our Chiefs at the Green Dragon

(I can't vouch for the website's accuracy.)

It's easy to keep them apart. Just sort them by plan and level of success:

Runnymede. Plan: ignore the King's power. Succeeded.
John Cade. Plan: kill all the lawyers. Failed
Guy Fawkes. Plan: kill all the MPs. Failed.
Cromwell. Plan: destroy the King's power. Succeeded for eleven years, then

failed.
Glorious Revolution. Plan: ignore the King's power. Succeeded.
Washington. Plan: ignore the King's power. Succeeded.
Sepoy Mutiny. Plan: ignore the Queen's power. Failed.
Boxer Rebellion. Plan: ignore the Queen's power. Failed.
Gandhi. Plan: ignore the King's power. Succeeded.

Does that help?

I'm not sure you could do the extra verse, though, just because the poem is
shaped by the seasons: spring, summer, autumn, winter. Another verse just
doesn't scan:
And when I went to Boston
On the July Fourth of my year,
We found the old Green Dragon
With Warren and Revere....

Dona Antonia
His Grace Duke Jonathan speaks very highly of your work in the Rapier
community and the Bardic community. He and I both think your time as
Premier Bard was the turning point. We really thank you for all your
good efforts. We look forward to seeing you back at activities. Have
you time to come to Kragenworth Keep for the first Friday of the
month. The Bards and performers there would be thrilled to see you.
