For those who, due perhaps to the great distances involved, cannot make the bardic competitions at Stargate Yule this year, I humbly propose a wonderful alternative. The Barony of Wiesenfeuer here in the northlands has a Yule Revel as well, at which there will be, as always, a splendid bardic competition. The pass-down prizes for the competition include a fashionable staff with a great story behind it, a fabled cloak (which is quite warm and I will be loath to return), a wonderful bit of bling (an early period brooch on a golden chain) and last, but not least, a wonderful lap harp to assist in your songwriting and/or singing endeavors.

There will be two rounds; the first round should be a piece somehow related to Yule. Should the association be not immediately apparent, it is strongly suggested that the connection be shown through the introduction. This is not to suggest the piece must be about Yuletide exclusively, rather it must be somehow related; a feeling about this time of year, a story about hunting for food around the shortest day of the year, a period carol, any of these would be quite appropriate. The piece will be judged on appropriateness to the season, performance, and presence; period and/or self-written works will be favored.

The second round should be the aspiring titled bard's most entertaining piece. The bard's ability to entertain their Excellencies on this, the darkest time of the year, will be judged.

In order to provide adequate time for all entries, contestants are strongly advised to limit their pieces to no more than five minutes in length.

Very truly yours in service to the Dream and the Dreamers,

Ld Robert o' the Faire
Titled Bard, Wiesenfeuer
House Bard, Wolfstar
