Alden,

Frederich, by Esther of Ennis Merth, is an earlier version of "For Dona Antonia" by HL Emma Haldan, you may want to be aware of that. :-)

Is there room for instrumental music  in the book, or are you wanting only
songs with words?

For a songbook, I would recommend it as a worthy project for the bardic
community. :)  I think such an undertaking would be well served by
everyone's input and contributions, with perhaps a key volunteer or two to
coordinate efforts, collect material, edit the bardbook, and publish it.  In
that venture, I would be happy to advise.

"Voices of the Star" was intended to be a periodical bard book (songs,
poetry, and prose).  As I was collecting materials for a second volume,
interest/submissions waned, and I didn't get enough together to publish a
full book.  Below is a list of everything I collected for Volume II.  There
are 4 songs and  22 poetry & prose entries (26 total), compared to Volume I,
which had
21 songs and 39 poetry & prose entries (60 total).

"A Lay for a Don" (poem) - Annes Clotilde von Bamburg "The Clearing" (poem)
- Giles Guthrie "Dark Legion" (poem) - Karl Heinrich von Essweiller "The
Steady and Cateau" (poem) - Lyllianne the Poetess "Frederich" (poem) -
Esther of Ennis Merth "Is It Among the Stones" (poem) - Lillias MacGuffin
"Light of the Shadowe" (poem) - Lillias MacGuffin "Bonwicke Shall Not Fall"
(poem) - Simone Ui'Dunlaingh "He Doth Crown" (poem) - Simone Ui'Dunlaingh
"Standard of Honor" (poem) - Simone Ui'Dunlaingh "Brothers in Arms" (poem) -
Elanor O'Ruark "The Bard's Tale" (poem) - Elanor O'Ruark "Who Caught Who"
(poem) - Serena Dominicci
"Borderkeep: The Dream" (poem) Brian O' hUilliam "Queen Lucy" (poem) - Emma
Haldan "Don Brendan is on Fire" (poem) - Emma Haldan "For Dona Antonia"
(poem) - Emma Haldan "Triolet 12" (poem) - James Northfolke "A Day at the
Stones" (poem) - James Northfolke "Ode to My Corset" (poem) - Susanna
Nightegale "The Yellow Streak a Mile Wide" (poem) - Paedric O'Mullan
"Requiem in Purpure" (poem) - Elanor O'Ruark

"The Prince's Reply" (song) - Celeste Courtenay de Montmorency "Agincourt"
(song) - Kenneth MacQuarrie "Castelon" (song) - Maggie MacPherson "Ave
Ansteorrae" (song) Paedric O'Mullan

If Volume II is still desired, I would be happy to continue taking
submissions (particularly songs).  I'd like to get to at least 48 total
entries to publish. The requirements were that the submission be written
either by Ansteorrans, for Ansteorra(ns), or about Ansteorra(ns).  Each
person could submit up to three works to be included, each with a permission
form to publish.

In service,
Alden

I have a copy of the Ansteorran Children's Bardbook that was put together by
Ld Antigonus Bearbait (Tiggy). But I do not believe we have one for the
adults yet......a worthy project for the Kingdom Bard? Or maybe just a bard
with too much time on her hands, lol.

"Little girls, this seems to say, Never stop upon your way.
Never trust a stranger-friend; No one knows how it will end.
As you're pretty, so be wise; Wolves may lurk in every guise.
Handsome they may be, and kind, Gay, or charming never mind!
Now, as then, 'tis simple truth...
Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth!"

Greetings all!

I was wondering if there was a common song/book put together for Ansteorra
specifically. Songs that everyone knows and are commonly sung around the
fire.
Something for new bards to get started with perhaps....

Many thanks,
